SPONSORSHIPS

Sponsoring health in its many forms
Transamerica’s commitment to wealth and health doesn’t end with our customers, employees, and clients.
Our efforts go into our communities in the form of sponsorships that enable us to support physical and financial fitness as part of overall wellness.
Investing in your health is as critical as investing in your retirement....This represents the future of sound advice.
-DR. JOSEPH COUGHLIN, DIRECTOR, MIT AGELAB
American Heart Association ®
Transamerica believes a healthy heart is fundamental to adding more years to your life, and more life to your years. This is why we collaborate with the American Heart Association, the largest voluntary health organization dedicated to eradicating heart disease and stroke. By sponsoring Heart Walk and Cycle Nation we seek to promote healthy habits for our customers, employees, and business associates.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) AgeLab

Transamerica and MIT’s groundbreaking AgeLab have engaged in a long-term research collaboration to design, develop, and deploy innovations that touch how the world's aging population will live, work, and play tomorrow. "Investing in your health is just as critical as investing in your retirement," says Dr. Joe Coughlin, founder and director of MIT's AgeLab. "How healthy we are in older age, as well as how wealthy we are, is about the behavior we had in our younger age."

The research has shown that wealth + health lead to one another, and that your financial well-being and your physical well-being are definitely interconnected. If we’re going to encourage people to invest in the future and in their long-term health, we want to have an idea of how to make those years better for everyone.

Zach Johnson

Zach has always recognized the importance of surrounding himself with trusted experts. He’s added a personal trainer, chiropractor, and a nutritionist to improve his health and performance over the years. Zach is a 12-time PGA TOUR winner, including the 2015 Open Championship and 2007 Masters, and he's represented the U.S. in five Ryder Cups and four Presidents Cups.

Away from the course, his Zach Johnson Foundation has been improving the quality of life, education, and well-being through a number of different initiatives. One of these initiatives is the nonprofit Kids On Course program, which provides tutoring, enrichment, and parent engagement strategies to put students on course to graduate from college. Transamerica has proudly supported Zach Johnson and his commitment to health and serving others since 2004.

Stewart Cink

Stewart Cink joined the PGA TOUR in 1997 following his graduation from Georgia Tech. After his first five years on the tour, Stewart hired a personal trainer to get himself in better shape and work on his flexibility. His healthier approach to the game led him to his first major at the 2009 British Open Championship. He has represented the U.S. in five Ryder Cups, four Presidents Cups, and two World Cups.

Stewart and his family have a passion for the outdoors that is rivaled only by their love for helping others. In 2016, he left the tour while his wife battled stage 4 breast cancer. She is in “sustained remission,” and together they created the Cink It Challenge Tournament to benefit local charities that are close to their hearts.

Azahara Muñoz
LPGA member Azahara Muñoz of Spain won the 2002 Spanish Amateur title at the age of 14, as well as team and individual national titles while playing at Arizona State. Aza is a five-time Ladies European Tour tournament winner and notched her first LPGA TOUR victory in 2012. She has even starred in three Solheim Cups. But after feeling tired and sore all the time, she recently went gluten-free and made significant changes to her diet to optimize her performance on the tour. We look forward to watching her and her healthier lifestyle among the names on the leaderboard in the months and years ahead.
