Colorado Rapids Sponsorship
When we think of soccer, we think of family. As one of the most popular youth sports in America, soccer spans generations while transcending communities and cultures. Soccer also plays an important part in the lives of many of our employees and their families. Transamerica is proud to sponsor the Colorado Rapids and support Major League Soccer, now in its 20th season.

In 20 seasons, the Rapids have epitomized the positive transformation of soccer in this country. The Rapids weathered the early days of MLS when teams competed for the public’s interest and played games in rented football stadiums.
Today, the club supports youth soccer clubs across the country, plays home games in state-of-the-art Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, part of its own beautiful 24-field soccer complex in Commerce City, just northeast of downtown Denver. The Rapids have played in two MLS Cup finals, losing in 1997 before winning the 2010 final with a 2-1 victory over FC Dallas. They have fielded numerous All-Stars, international stars and national team players, including current head coach Pablo Mastroeni.

Head Coach Pablo Mastroeni
Pablo Mastroeni represents the past, present and future of the Colorado Rapids soccer club, having transformed himself from passionate player to its current head coach.
Mastroeni was named coach of the Rapids in 2014 having spent 13 seasons as the club’s most decorated player, longtime captain, perennial All-Star and face of a franchise that he helped lead to its only MLS Cup championship in 2010.
Born in Argentina and raised in Arizona, Mastroeni played in 65 games for the U.S. National Team and represented his country in the 2002 and 2006 World Cup. A defensive midfielder for most his career, Mastroeni joined the Rapids from the now-defunct Miami Fusion, who drafted the North Carolina State standout in 1998.
With the Rapids, Mastroeni was known for his spirited play and professionalism. Although he scored just five goals for the club, he was a seven-time All-Star and a three-time team MVP. He currently holds the club record for games played (225), games started (217) and minutes played (18,669). Upon his retirement in 2013, Mastroeni was fifth on the all-time list for most minutes played in MLS history.
Mastroeni and his wife Kelly live in the Denver area with their two children.
