Transamerica earns Top Scoring Company on Disability Equality Index

Transamerica recently received the Disability Equality Index Top Scoring Company for 2024. To celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities, our Dimensions (differently abled and caregivers) employee resource group is hosting an employee panel to discuss different perspectives of caregiving. We also hosted an event to help employees learn about different accommodations they can request at work.

Diversity and inclusion pillars and programs

We strive to create a culture of inclusivity through the pillars of our workforce, our workplace, and the marketplace. Each pillar includes strategic programs that support this multi-faceted approach.
  • Workplace programs

We’re building a professional culture that engages and welcomes everyone to ensure all employees feel a sense of belonging.
  • Employee resource groups (ERGs)

Our 12 employee resource groups provide opportunities to create a sense of community among a wide range of individuals.
  • Education and awareness

Transamerica offers diversity and inclusion education through an unconscious bias training program. We also offer awareness opportunities through our employee resource groups.
  • Meetings with leadership

Employee resource group members regularly participate in ideation sessions with Transamerica leaders. This ensures diverse perspectives are represented in strategy and formal initiatives supported by the business.
  • Focus groups on women and life insurance

We’ve conducted focus groups for “Designing Solutions to Empower Women” to gain the perspective of women on life insurance. The insights have led to proposed product features and changes.
  • Workforce programs

We’re integrating inclusion, equity, and diversity into our recruitment strategies to create a more diverse workforce.
  • Leadership development

We provide opportunities for future leadership to minority talent through programs like talent review, women in sales development, emerging and executive leadership development, and mentoring.
  • Talent acquisition

Efforts to attract diverse talent include professional and college recruiting at minority serving organizations, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and Hispanic Serving Institutions.
  • INROADS

Transamerica partners with INROADs, a non-profit organization that helps prepare underrepresented students by providing them with access to resources and corporate experiences through internships.
  • New and emerging leadership development

Each year a cohort of new and emerging female leaders participate in a leader development program to gain leadership insight, skills, and experiences that they can apply personally and professionally.
  • Marketplace programs

We’re strengthening how we live these values with our customers and in our communities to create positive change.
  • D&I awards

Outside recognition demonstrates how we put our words into action. These benchmark awards and recognition help us celebrate our strengths and understand our opportunities.
  • Supplier diversity

We’re committed to fair inclusion in our procurement activities. We seek to foster business relationships with diverse suppliers who offer high-quality goods and services with competitive pricing.
  • Engagement in the community and key memberships

It includes active and inactive military, veterans, military families, and anyone who would like to learn more.

Women’s Impact Network
